A year round update on Mr. Haney's class!
My Week 35
May 11th
I had a awesome week 35! First, on Monday, we took a trip to the Science Museum that is in Oak Ridge. I loved it! We got to put our hands on an electric ball and our hair stud up! I loved it!!! Also, we got to go upstairs and look all around at the cool things that they had up there! It was so cool! I had a lot of fun! Next, on Tuesday, we had the West Vally tour! West Vally is a middle school that is in our area. The tour is to help the upcoming 6th graders know their way around the school. Even though I wasn’t going to go there, it was still fun! Later, on Wednesday, a lot of people had signed up to go to the Bearden tour. Since I didn’t sign up, I went to another teacher at our school. It was a lot of fun! We got to watch a movie and we had to only do a little bit of work! It was so much fun! Later, on Thursday, we started to make Mother’s Day cards for our moms! Anna Cate helped us with them and they look REALLY good! They even have our pictures in them that she took herself! I loved making them! Finally, on Friday, we started to make a thing called In 3 Words! What that means is that we have a slideshow for the end of the year and the In 3 Words that we are doing will be put into the slideshow! It talks about what we will miss about 5th grade. I put Our Best Friends and it looked REALLY cool! I REALY LOVED my week 35!!!
Week 34!!!!
May 4th
I LOVED my week 34!!!! First, on Monday, we started our “Get Fit,” week!!!! That means that the whole week, we are going to exercise to get fit!!!! On Monday, a girl from Zumba come over and do dances with us!!! I loved to dance and get moving with her!!!! It was so fun! Next, on Tuesday, also for the “Get Fit,” week, a person came in to talk to us about diabetes. That’s also a part of the health fair. I liked to listen to what he had to say. It was very interesting!!! Also, on Tuesday, we had a mystery skype!!!! I loved getting to ask my question to those people!!!! We found out that they were from Illinois!!!! I have never meet anyone from there and I loved getting to!!!After that, on Wednesday, we had the track meet!!!!!! I loved being with my friends and cheering them on!!! I even got checked out afterwards!!! I liked that part!!! I didn’t want to ride in that HOT bus again!!! It was SO HOT outside!!! Later, on Thursday, we had a yoga person come and do yoga with us!!!! It felt REALLY relaxing!!! I loved it!!! After yoga, still on Thursday, we had another mystery skype!!!!! This time I had a answer to tell them. After a few questions and a few answers, we found out that they were from Texas!!!! I loved getting to meet them!!! Finally, on Friday, we had the Walk for Diabetes!!! That means that we walked to help cure diabetes. A lot of people brought in money and we raised a lot to find a cure!!!! Also, on Friday, we had CBM testing!!! I think that I did really good!!!! I ADORED my week 34!!!!
My Week 33!!!!
Apr 27th
My week 33 was hard-working!!!!!! First, on Monday, we got our last chance to work on T-CAPS!!! We had T-CAP club and everything!!! I think that on Monday, I got all the practice that I could!!!! I worked REALLY HARD!!! Next, on Tuesday, we had our very first T-CAP of my fifth grade year!!!!! The test was reading part one and part two. I was very nervous at first, but after the test came out, I felt great!!! I finished in time on both parts and I think that I did pretty good!! After that, on Wednesday, we took another T-CAP test, the math!!!! I think that I did really good on this one!!! I feel really good about it!!!! Next, on Thursday, we once again, had a T-CAP test. This time we had the science parts. There were a few questions that were a little hard, but I think that I got them!!! I feel good about them!!!!! Later, on Friday, we had our last T-CAP test, the history!! I feel pretty great about it!!!! I was also glad that it was over!!!! Also, on Friday, I brought in a form for the Door of Hope that Anna Cate, our classroom helper, talked about. If a family can’t take care of a baby, they can put it in the Door of Hope and a motion detector will detect a near by orphanage to come pick them up!!! Anna Cate is making me a bracelet because I donated 20 dollars!!!! I can’t wait to get it!! I ADORED my week 33!!
My Week 32!!!!!!!
Apr 20th
I LOVED my week 32!!!! First, on Monday, we worked with the third graders again!!!!!!!!! Instead of with the homeroom, we worked with the math kids! I worked with a really smart girl!!!! She was very good at EVERYTHING that we tried!!!! I loved helping her as much as possible!!!!Later, on Tuesday, we had a lot of review!! It was VERY long but I guess that it will help me when the real T-CAPS come!!! Later, on Wednesday, we had T-CAP club!!!! I loved going to it because we went over the homework that we had to do!! I am so happy that I didn’t miss any!! Also, I am glad that I am getting ready for T-CAPS as much a possible!! Next, on Thursday, we went out to our garden to find that it was growing a ton!!!!! It was so big that we had to put up some string that let the pants wrap around it!!!! It was so cool!!! Also, on Thursday, we went outside to do trivia!!!! It was so pretty and I loved being outside instead of being stuck in a classroom for one whole hour!!! I loved doing that!!!! Finally, on Friday, the Soul Singer preformed!!!!!! My friend, Kate, is in it and I loved to watch her!!!! We also got to get out of math early!!!! I liked that part, too!!! I LOVED my week 32!!!!!
My Week 31!!!
Apr 13th
I LOVED my week 31!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, on Monday, we had a day off!!!!! We did a lot of stuff that day!! We slept in!!! That felt REALLY GOOD!!!! After my brother and I woke up, we had to got right to my dad’s office. It was his birthday!!!!!! We loved being with him on his 41st birthday! I know what your thinking. Your thinking that he is old! He’s really not that old!!!!! That night, we had a cook out for his birthday! Ever though my mom had to go to Nashville to watch my cousin, it was still fun!!! After that, on Tuesday, we had to go back to school. It was really hard to get up and it was even harder without my mom there to get me out!!! Something got me to get out of school that morning, though. We got our new Safety posts!!!!!!! I am outside with my two best friends Riley and Kate! We open car doors. I loved it and it is REALLY fun!!!! Also, on Tuesday, we got our letters from Spain!!!!! They talked about their houses and what they looked like. They even gave us presents!!!!! I am soooo happy that I have a friend in Spain!!!!! She is very nice and a REALLY good writer!!!!! Later, on Wednesday, it was a normal day. We had a lot of TCAP review and after school I had basketball practice! The highlight of my day, though, was getting to see my mom!!! That is when she came home. Next, on Thursday, it was Ethan’s birthday!!!!! It was so exciting!!! His mom brought in cupcakes!!!!! They were sooo good!!!!!! I loved them!!!! Finally, on Friday, we got to help out third graders with their test taking skills!!! The person that I had was really good at it!!!!! I gave her some good tips and she listened really good at what I was saying!!!!! It was really fun!!! I REALLY LOVED my week 31!!!!
My Week 30!!!
Apr 5th
My week 30 was awesome!!!!! On Monday, we started out test review for the T-CAPS!!! I know that it doesn’t sound like it is fun, but it is okay. I can live with it. Also, on Monday, I was still happy from the weekend. A few of the people from school went to the new movie called The Hunger Games!!! It is based on three real books. I have read 2 of them and I am on the third. They are really good books that turn into a really good movie!!!!!!!! Okay, now I’ll get back to Monday. Later in that day, Ms. Kasper came into our classroom and visited with us!!!!! It was really good to see her again!!! Since she is living in Nashville now, we don’t see her a lot any more. Next, on Tuesday, we had T-CAP club at the end at the day! That is where Mr. Haney stays after school and we practice T-CAP things. we did a lot of trivia to earn tickets for our drawing!!!!! there is a lot of little things in the prize box that you can get if your ticket gets pulled out, but you get a lot of chances to win. After that, on Wednesday, the track results came out!!!!!! I got on the team!!!!! I am on the relay team!!!!! My team-mates are: Riley, Gillian, and Jennings. Kate also made the 100 meter. That was really fun to find out!! Then, also on Wednesday, we had T-CAP club again. The math class was with us, too. We did the same type of thing as we did the day before! I loved it!! Then, on Thursday, the girls got their party for the states challenge! We won, if you didn’t know. We got the karaoke machine out and we got a lot of food! My mom even helped out! That was really fun!!! Of all, I loved Friday the best! We weren’t in school!!!! I had a great time sitting and relaxing all day! We did a lot of fun things, too! I LOVED my week 30!!!!!!!
My Week 29!!!!!!!
Mar 30th
Hey! I had a great week 29! Since I have done a lot of REALLY long posts for my weeks and stuff, I am going to do a short one for this week.
My week 29 was awsome!!!!!! First, on Monday, we started to try out for our school musical! I really want to be a part of it so I tried out! I think I did an okay job, but just in case Mrs. Boyd, our music teacher, said that we could all try out again! I can’t wait!! Next, on Tuesday, we had Tribe! Well, really it was Guidance, but we all like to call it Tribe. We talked about making friends and how to do it. We spent a lot of our reading time doing that and I’m okay with that!!! Also, on Tuesday, 6 teachers from Bricky McCloud came to our class room to see what we do! It was really funny because they knew one of my friends that goes there!!! Her name is Cassie and she is really nice! It was a cool thing that they came and did that!!! After that, on Wednesday, we had Tech Club!! It was really fun because we planted a new garden and it will start to sprout soon!!! I can’t wait until they do! Also at Tech Club we made our own Quia game! Quia is a website that has learning and educational games. And I made one!!! It is really cool!!! Later, on Thursday, we ate lunch outside! I loved eating outside so we could all get fresh air! Also, on Thursday, we had our track finals! I’m not sure how I did, but I feel okay about it. Finally, on Friday, we had Tech Buddies. We had to show them how to take a test and how to slow down! It was really fun!!! I LOVED my week 29!!!!!!
My Spring Break!!!!!!!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to talk to you about my spring break! I had a lot of fun and I think that you I should tell you a little bit about it. I am going to do this a little different, so stay with me and I hope you like it!!!!!
Saturday
On Saturday, I had three basketball games in a tournament that decided if I was going to play on Sunday or not. I was playing on a team in witch we had had a few practices, but we had never really played together. It was called Fury and we were about to go into the first game that we had ever played together. In the first game, It was a little hard. We held on to them and we had a chance of winning, but I guess that we just couldn’t pull it out. We ended up losing by just a few points. After the first game, a lot of the team went out to a sub shop that a few of my life-time friends went to when we played in the “little leagues”. It’s called Lenney’s Sub Shop and it was really good! It brought back a lot of memories, too! After that, at our second game, we never really had them. We lost by a lot and it wasn’t pretty. In our last game, we were really close the whole game! We made our run, then they made their run and in the end, we lost by only two points! We were so close!
Sunday
On Sunday, since we didn’t win any of our games the day before, we got to go on to the beach! I guess that there is a good side to us losing!!! It was a little bit of a slow day! We packed a little bit more and then waited until 3-o-clock so we could fly. We went to a little airport and flew on a private plane!!!!! It was on of my friend’s dad’s company. Even though they were going to a different beach than we were, they still took us!!! I thought that that we really nice!!!!! When we got there, we got to our house that we were going to stay in and started to look around and we also unpacked. We started to wait for Riley and her family to come. They were going to stay with us!!!!! When Riley and her family came and they started to unpack, we went to dinner at a restaurant called Cafe 30-A!!!!!!! It was so good!!!!
Monday
After sleep, on Monday, we woke up and got ready to go to the beach! After a mere bike ride, we were at the beach club. There was a pool and a beach. We went right to the beach where there was a yellow flag. That means that we could swim!!!!! We did a lot of that and then we went to the pool and swam a little bit. We also took time to read in our beach chairs! I loved it! We stayed there until it was time for dinner. We ate pizza at our house. We also watched the men’s Tennessee basketball game! Even though they lost, it was a great day!
Tuesday
On Tuesday, we got up and got ready again! We where going to the club again! We went right to the beach once we got there after the ride. There was a red flag on this day. That means that we couldn’t swim. We played in the sand, though. We read in our chairs once more on this day. We swam a little bit in the pool, too. We played and swam and read until it was time to go. That night, we ate at a restaurant called Bud & Ally’s! They have the best crab-cakes that I have ever had!!! I loved it!!!
Wednesday
On Wednesday, we were ready to go right when we all woke up! We rode to the club once more. There was a red flag on this day, too. Riley and I decided to bury the dads on the trip! After they had finished digging the hole, we buried them in the sand! They looked so funny! They were buried all the way to their heads!! It was really funny!!! After some reading and some relaxing we went home early to get ready for dinner. We went to a place called the Baytown Warf! It had bungy jumping with a trampoline! We did that before we went to dinner at a place in the Warf called Graffitis! I liked the bread, but what I ordered wasn’t to good. It was really fun, though!
Thursday
By Thursday, everyone way a little tired. We went to seaside to eat and look for t-shirts. It was good and fun! When we made it back to the beach, it was a red flag. My brother wanted to make a big hole so I helped him. Riley’s dad took over after my brother and I got tired and took a rest. It was really big! After a little bit of ice-cream we went home and all of the kids stayed home and the parents went out. We watched a lot of T.V. We were all really tired so we went to bed leaving behind a great day!
Friday
On Friday, we it was rainy so we stayed home. we played hide-and-go-seek tag for a while and then we went to lunch at a place called The Red Bar. I loved it! When we got home we played a whiffle ball game and then went on a golf cart ride to get ice-cream. That’s when it started to rain hard! We got our ice-cream and darted home! It was so funny! That night we went back to Cafe 30-A! It was so good as normal! I loved it!

My Week 28!!!!!
Mar 15th
I loved my week 28! It was so much fun! On Monday, everybody was a little tired. That is because we had to spring froward a whole hour! It was a whole lot of crazy! Also on Monday, we found out that we had a 5th grade musical! It was called A Kids Life! It seemed like a really fun thing to do!! I really want to have a speaking part but if not, I’ll just sing in the choir! Also, after the musical, there is an award’s night for all of the 5th graders! I really am happy about that! Next, on Tuesday, we started to talk about our next letter to the Philippines! This was a big letter, too! Some of the people have had some of their family members die in the big, big, big, storm that hit them! A lot of people died from all of the things that happened to them!!! It was really sad, but I think that our letters will really help them feel better! After that, On Wednesday, we started to do our novel studies movies!!!! We read the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane! I was so happy! We did a lot of shooting and filming that day and that is what we did all of the end of the day! I loved it and it was so much fun!!!!! I loved shooting my novel studies trailers! Then, I had my 11th birthday! I got a new phone! It is an i-phone and it is very popular here! I got a lot of “happy birthdays” to me, too! My mom and my dad came and ate with me! They brought me 5-Guys! That is another popular thing that is around here. They even sang to me in the cafeteria! It was a lot of fun! I got a lot more presents too, but I wont get into all of that. Also, on Thursday, we got to change our desks around for the next semester! I sit by my friends, Hayle and Chelsey! And my best, best, best, best, best, best, best friend named Riley sits on the other side of Chelsey, so I am happy about that!!!! Finally, on Friday, we had our weekly test and it was our first day in our new seats. It was a little weird, but I think that I will get used to it! Also, on Friday, everyone was really excited!!! I was the day right before spring break! Everybody was ready to be out and have a whole week off! That might be why I will not write a week blog for next week! I will be off, in the sun, with Riley! I can’t wait! This week was fantastic, letter writin’, 11 turning kind of week! I loved it a lot!!
